Ardbeg Alligator is a powerful, deep, peaty Scottish single malt, produced in 2011 by the renowned Ardbeg distillery, located on the Isle of Islay.
Ardbeg Alligator was aged in new American oak casks with extremely deep charring, a method more common in bourbon production than in the world of Scotch whisky.
The unique charring process creates numerous plaques inside the casks that resemble crocodile skin, hence the name alligator cask.
This process gives the whisky greater flavor intensity and aromatic complexity, with a peat intensity of 55 ppm.
The result is a whisky that perfectly represents the essence of the distillery, with a combination of smoke, spice, and the decadent sweetness of dates that we've come to love over the years.
This limited edition, first released in 2011, owes its name to the "alligator char" technique used in the casks, which gives the whisky a unique, intense, and grandiose profile.
The alcohol content is 51.2%, adding further power, density, smoothness, and depth to the whisky's profile.
This bottle is an original from 2011, a collector's bottle with high commercial and historical value as it is the progenitor of all limited editions from the Ardbeg distillery on Islay.
