Lagavulin 12 Years Old is, in fact, an annual release, produced as a special edition in a limited, albeit unnumbered, run.
Lagavulin 12 Year Old 200th Anniversary is a highly peated whisky produced at full strength in a very limited number of collectible bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Initially, lots of peat, pure, raw, and intense. Subsequently, salty and woody notes emerge, along with honey, peaches, and a touch of vanilla. Fresh almonds round out the flavor.
Taste: Powerful, with peat, wood, but also coffee and spices. A light floral note is present, along with some lime. Overall, fresh! Yes, it's definitely a Lagavulin, wonderfully pure!
Finish: Lagavulin 12 Year Old is longer than average but less intense than the 16 Year Old. Fresh and intense at the same time. Honey, omnipresent peat, and pepper.
A truly magnificent product, Lagavulin 12 Year Old 200th Anniversary pairs well with aromatic and fragrant cigars or wonderful pipe tobacco.
