Lagavulin 12 years, never seems to disappoint.
A superb Islay whiskey!
The 2015 version of Lagavulin 12 years is no different, another great single malt tasting this exciting Islay's distillery.
The 12 year Lagavulin whiskey is in fact an annual release, produced however as a special edition in limited edition even if not numbered.
Lagavulin 12 years is a whiskey produced with full gradation and the same varies slightly in each edition.
Tasting Notes:
Smell: In the beginning a lot of peat, pure, raw, intense. Later notes salty and woody but also honey, peaches and a touch of vanilla. Fresh almonds complete the whole.
Taste: Poderoso, with peat, wood but also coffee and spices. Not missing a slight floral note but also lime. Overall fresh! Yes, it's definitely a Lagavulin, wonderfully pure!
Fnale: Lagavulin 12 years is longer than average but less intense than 16 years. Fresh and intense at the same time. Honey, ubiquitous peat and pepper.
A great product, the Lagavulin 12 years is to be combined with aromatic and perfumed cigars like the new Cohiba Magicos or a wonderful pipe tobacco like Brebbia Balkan with smoky Kentucky, Perique and Syrian Latakia.
