Foursquare's extraordinary new release takes its name from two great 'raconteurs': Luca Gargano and Stephen Remsberg, both famous for their inextricably linked history with rum.
Foursquare Raconteur Old Barbados Rum Double Maturation comes from a selection by Richard Seale, master distiller of Foursquare, of two barrels of rum distilled in the early 2000s and forming part of the Alleyne Arthur reserves.
It is a blend of two rums: single and double matured Selected by Seale and Gargano.
The former was aged for 17 years in ex-bourbon casks, while the latter was initially aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon casks, and then aged for a further 12 years in an ex-Sherry Oloroso cask.
it's the first time fans will be able to enjoy a Foursquare expression with specifically ex-Oloroso aging.
As is customary for Foursquare, each rum is made from a blend of double retort pot styles of copper and the traditional twin column coffee still before being placed in the barrels.
Bottled in 2023, this release was introduced to the market in just 4800 bottles.
The label design, characteristic of previous Foursquare bottlings, this one appears to be bottled by Velier, the Italian importer.
Foursquare Raconteur Old Barbados Rum Double Maturation has been beautifully aged in the tropics, as usual.
The Foursquare Raconteur Old Barbados Rum Double Maturation was immediately considered one of the best rums in the world, so much so that it scored 95 points at the IWSC 2023 competition.
