In the Leonardo line Ser Jacopo has recreated a design presumably conceived by Leonardo da Vinci at the request of the French King Louis XII.
In 1982, Professor Enrico Fabri discovered a four-page document in which some inventions that could appear to be by "Leonardo da Vinci" were collected. Numerous studies were carried out on these four pages: on the pigments, the materials, the graphic style; he did not miss a test with carbon 14 with the result of scientifically determining the authorship and age of the document: a "Leonardo da Vinci" of 1510.
Among the studies in this document there is one that concerns a particular request of the King of France Louis XII: "a pipe that was as cold as possible".
One of the numerous projects found inside a mine of documents brought to light in 1982 by Professor Enrico Fabri, it describes a double-walled terracotta pipe, cooled by the air circulating between these walls.
Ser Jacopo takes up this project by Leonardo Da Vinci, in the Leonardeschi years, replaces terracotta with briar but maintains the double wall system complete with a perforated silver washer on the edge, which acts as a grate.
Now the challenge of Ser Jacopo is to create Leonardo da Vinci's project and make it tangible, with the same technical devices but with a different material: "Barl".
This is how "Leonardo" was born, the pipe that doesn't heat up, an object full of history and genius.
Ser Jacopo was founded by Giancarlo Guidi and Bruto Sordini in 1984.
Following the detachment of Sordini it was led by Guidi alone.
He emerges from Mastro de Paja and, in the same laboratory where the pipe was born in Pesaro, he creates at Ser Jacopo della Gemma.
Once again a brilliant idea in the choice of the name and the logo: a painting that portrays an ancient nobleman, a high-sounding name Ser Jacopone, Ser Jacopo is more immediately perceptible and once again the name is imprinted immediately in the public's memory, as well as the logo it represents.
Ser Jacopo's pipes, made personally and exclusively by hand, are the result of a long and patient process.
Characteristic of Ser jacopo's pipes is the free, imaginative, artistic form, balance and practicality.
Each Ser Jacopo pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece and the photos you see portray this exclusive pipe, once purchased, it will be removed from the catalogue.
