Rhum Rhum Liberation 2024 — Full Version: Capovilla's agricultural rum is back.
Rhum Rhum represents one of the most important and visionary projects related to rhum agricole: it was born from the meeting between Luca Gargano and Gianni Capovilla at Marie-Galante, with the aim of producing a great artisanal rum, pure and deeply rooted in the raw material.
Rhum Rhum Liberation 2024 — Version Intégrale is a commemorative cuvée that captures the essence of the finest batches of the Rhum Rhum project.
Distilled in the French Caribbean, presented in its full expression at 58 proof and unblended, this version integrates aromas, structure, and character to offer an organic and powerful experience.
Distilled from fermented sugarcane juice according to Caribbean agricultural tradition.
Extremely prolonged fermentation, batch distillation in a bain-marie in small copper stills, the famous Capovilla traveling distillery.
The two stills that make up the traveling distillery are column stills specifically designed for the Rhum Rhum project.
The traveling distillery is a French tradition and allows the distiller to travel with his cart-mounted stills throughout the French Republic and select the best product for distillation.
Previously, the traveling distillery of Rhum Rhum Capovilla was in Maria Galante.
Long maturation in selected barrels (woods of varying complexity), blended without reduction or with minimal reduction to respect the Version Intégrale.
Aging in noble woods, which have contained great French white wines, helps define a unique style of great aromatic complexity.
Most of the barrels used to age Rhum Rhum come from the renowned Château d'Yquem in Bordeaux, especially famous for its sweet Sauternes wines.
The name "Liberation" refers to the rum's newfound freedom from the barrel, and the date on the label refers to the year of bottling.
Liberation 2024 Integral is also the world's first Pure Single Agricole Rum, meaning it is double distilled in a copper pot still using a water bath and aged on site for at least three years.
Rhum Rhum Liberation 2024 Version Intégrale is designed for enthusiasts and collectors seeking a powerful and integral expression of Caribbean rum agricole, capable of expressing its terroir and uncompromising craftsmanship.
This edition is meant to be sipped slowly, contemplated, and, for connoisseurs, a collector's item. A piece that combines character, depth, and authenticity.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Deep amber with coppery highlights.
Nose: Rich and enveloping—molasses, burnt caramel, candied citrus, notes of tropical herbs, sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), and a hint of vanilla and toasted wood.
Palate: Full-bodied structure, intense presence of well-integrated cane sugars, dried fruit, notes of bitter cocoa, toffee, white pepper, and a slightly salty aftertaste that evokes the proximity to the sea.
Finish: Long, warm, with hints of wood and spice.
Serving Suggestion
Savour neat at room temperature in a tulip glass to concentrate the aromas.
To balance the alcohol if it's too strong, add a drop of pure water.
Also excellent in sophisticated cocktails (a bold Old Fashioned or a sipping version of a Tiki reinterpretation).
Food Pairings
Dark chocolate 70%+, quality tobacco, aged cheeses (pecorino, manchego).
Dry pastries, desserts with spices and dried fruit, grilled or spiced meat dishes.
