At the beginning of 2017, Marc Sassier, the new president of St James AOC Martinique, and Luca Gargano, president of Velier, chose 4 barrels of rum in the distillery's warehouses.
The four barrels contained rum St. James excellent for aromas and intensity of flavors.
The four barrels of agricultural rum were distilled in 2008, then refined in former barrels of Cognac.
The aging of the St. James Rum 2008 for the 70th anniversary Velier was conducted in the distillery stores in Martinique.
During aging, St. James rum loses 35% of the product.
Distilled in 2008, it was bottled in 2017 with a full alcohol content of 60.8 degrees.
Few bottles produced make this rum very sought after by collectors.
