At the third generation, it is the largest producer of branded spirits in Panama and one of the most important producers of rums in Central America.
The Varela Hermanos distillery has succeeded, with a tradition and an experience of over a hundred years, to combine the variety of flavors and tastes of Panama in a rum aged in barrels previously used for sherry.
The maturation of the Abuelo rum plays a fundamental role and takes place not only in old Sherry Oloroso barrels, but also with the Solera method.
