Whiskey Balvenie 12 y.o. Double Wood Cask is part of the prestige line of the Banffshire distillery and has recently imported into Italy.
Distillery built in the distant 1892, today the Balvenie Doublewood 12 y.o. gains its unique character thanks to the particular maturation that takes place in barrels of two different woods, aged in sherry barrel after aging in American barrels for more than 10 years.
The Balvenie Doublewood whiskey is aged in American oak barrels and then in ex-sherry casks for 12 years.
Aging in oak barrels gives the Balvenie Doublewood whiskey 12 years round body and hints of vanilla.
The finish in ex sherry barrels increases the complexity and the aromas of fruit, giving it a sweet taste with hints of honey.
Balvenie Doublewood 12 years is an amber-colored Scotch Whiskey with coppery reflections, with an intense and rich aroma of underwood fruit, dried fruit, cinnamon, honey, sherry and smoke.
On the palate it is rich, sweet, with citrus flavors, orange peel, wine, liquorice and wood.
Balvenie Doublewood 12 years is very persistent and intense.
