The Glenfarclas distillery was founded in the thirties in the verdant Scottish valley of Speyside, whose property was purchased in 1865 by John Grant and handed down to his descendants making it, to date, an independent reality much loved by fans of Whiskey.
In Glenfarclas Master Murray's in his famous Whiskey Bible writes: "Glenfarclas is one of the best spirits distilled in the highlands, you can not die before you have tasted a Glenfarclas whiskey at least once!"
Glenfarclas derives from the Gaelic and translated means "valley of green grass".
The 10 year old Glenfarclas is a single malt that spends its long aging period in barrels previously used for the production of Sherry Oloroso which make it wonderfully soft, but with the depth of a flavor that we would normally expect from an older whiskey.
Tasting Notes:
Color: golden straw.
Nose: sweet-toned sherry combined with delicate smoked malt, releasing subtle spices afterwards the 10 year old Glenfarclas reveals aromas of honey, vanilla and pear.
Taste: succulent combination of soft malt, smoky and sweet sherry. Hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves further tempt the taste buds.
Finish: long, 10-year-old Glenfarclas soft and spicy, with a delicious, but delicate, persistent smokiness.
