Kura the Japanese Whisky rum cask Finish Vol.40% Cl.70

Helios Distillery in Okinawa, Japan is famous for producing rum and awamori for a few decades now launches on the market a blended whiskey the KURA WHISKEY RUM CASK FINISH.

Helios has a fairly short history for Japanese distillery standards, rum distillation began in 1961.

"Kura" is actually the name of their awamori aged in cask, the most similar to a whiskey is a 40% aged in white oak barrels for 12 years.
They also call it "Kura Single Malt". But it is still an awamori.
In the case of KURA WHISKEY RUM CASK FINISH, Helios imported a mixture of malt whiskey from Scotland.
This whiskey is then aged in its ex-rum casks, then bottled at about 40% alcohol level.
Interesting addition to the world of Japanese whiskey.

Tasting note:
Bouquet: toasted oak and a touch of musk, creamy lemon and soft malt.
Palate: brown sugar, burned oak again (now with a touch of earthiness), lime jam.
Finishing: rye bread and a touch of bitter grapes.
