Kilkerran is the small distillery of Campbeltown, "cousin" of Springbank.
This 12 year, which appeared in 2016, is the end result of a series of previous products called Work in Progress, which testified the work carried out in the distillery for its reopening.
The Glengyle distillery reopened in 2004 after the closure in 1925.
Kilkerran Single Malt 12 years, produced with double distillation, is slightly peated and is the assembly of distillates aged in former 70% bourbon barrels and 30% former sherry barrels.
Kilkerran Single Malt 12 years is bottled at 46% is not cold filtered and has no added colorings.
Tasting notes
Aroma: Intense oak notes followed by notes of dried fruit with cherries, marzipan and a peat tip.
Palate: Kilkerran Single Malt 12 years is initially fruity with notes of citrus and orange peel. Then hints of vanilla, toffee, caramel and digestive biscuits.
Finale: Velvety and smooth with lemon meringue. Oily and salty as expected from a Campbeltown malt.
Whiskey Kilkerran Single Malt 12 years can be matched with a good Nicaraguan cigar like L'Aroma de Caribe Mi Amor or a balanced Davidoff 702.
