Am Bùrach is a peated single malt Scotch whiskey aged in several barrels: for one part of this single malt ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels were used, the other part was aged in barrels of Port wine.
After the single malt wedding, it was left to rest in ex-bourbon barrels and aged for a few months again in ex-porto ruby barrels.
Am bùrach in Gaelic means "chaos" or casino, a decidedly atypical name for a single malt, it derives from a wrong experiment in the distillery.
Am Bùrach is blended of the classic Machir Bay with barrels aged in ex-Port wine.
"Am bùrach!" it was the first exclamation of the General Manager of Kilchoman as soon as he learned of the error, a word that has remained impressed on everyone and that today we find on the bottles of this atypical Kilchoman distillate.
Kilchoman Am Bùrach is an exceptional limited edition produced only in ten thousand bottles.
The combination of the used barrels gives this single malt a good complexity.
