News among the Velier rums in collaboration with the Monymusk distillery.

The new "Rum Sapiens" line is born for the enthusiast, for the rum expert looking for rums with a high percentage of esters, original Jamaican rums, heavy rums.

Rums personally selected by Luca Gargano, which represent his philosophy and the goal of his research.

The first release of Velier's "Rum Sapiens" line is dedicated to the Jamaican distillery Monymusk and in particular to two barrels the numbers 434034 and 434039.

Distilled in 1984, they have been aged for 35 years under the Caribbean sun.

The 1984 Monymusk rum is distinguished by the MMW mark which corresponds to an extremely high level of esters between 150 and 400.

35 years of tropical aging, with an angel share rising 8% per year in the Caribbean, this amounts to 95% of the distillate that evaporates with aging.

So there is only the essence of rum left, so much so that Luca Gargano has decided to bottle two releases with two different alcoholic degrees.

This is the "Rum Sapiens" Monymusk 1984 MMW with the alcohol content of 69%.

Very few bottles produced, with an exceptional value for a rum.

The alcohol content should not scare, time and the angels have worked during the 35 years softening its strength, during the tasting it is an explosion of aromas and notes of caramel, inevitably woody rum, very concentrated, complex and of great length.

Very original, suitable for long meditations, it is appreciated and discovered every glass following the first.

What is surprising is that esters were always present, and during the tasting they evolve and conquer.

A rum full of promise and potential.
