Latest release from the popular Orkney distillery: Highland Park 15 y.o. "Fire Edition".
Following in the footsteps of the Valhalla Collection, this bottling is also dedicated to the Viking mythology of the Poetic Edda.
The bottle is reminiscent of a red flame, encapsulated in a beautiful black wood structure like coal!
Aesthetically pleasing even if decidedly unusual, the packaging of the Highland Park 15 y.o. "Fire Edition".
This is a Highland Park 15 y.o, entirely aged in ex-port barrels, very soft and characterized by a reddish, vinous color.
Given the collecting fashion, however, the value of this bottle is already much higher at auctions.
A very good Highland Park and quite valid in each of the sectors.
Particularly brilliant in the olfactory area where sweetness also gives way to austerity.
A more sustained finish would have led me to place him at the top of the rankings.
At the same time, it remains a bottling of great quality and extremely pleasant.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Dark amber tinged with red.
Nose: lively and harmonious, in which fruity and floral touches are perceived alternating with sensations that recall sweet spices.
Very elegant, at times a little austere, with the addition of water it allows the mentholated note to emerge more, with a consequent decrease in the extreme vanilla sweetness.
Palate: velvety, rich in fruity and slightly smoky flavors, which accompany towards the long, persistent finish, set on evident flavors of vanilla.
With water, the herbaceous and mineral side is emphasized, with notes of bitter centerbe and a hint of cinchona.
Final: long, based on cinchona, vanilla, balsamic tip. To be tasted in combination with a Cornell & Diehl Missisipi mud.
