Hazelburn Oloroso cask 13 years is a peculiar production of Springbank named after a closed Campbeltown distillery.
A limited edition of only 9,900 bottles in the world, with unmatched characteristics and quality, so much so that it was immediately considered among the best whiskeys produced in Campbeltown.
The Hazelburn distillery is famous for the triple distillation of its soft, full-bodied and round whiskeys.
The distillery was active between 1825 and 1925, subsequently the Springbank distillery wanted to re-propose this brand for its best triple-distilled whiskeys.
Springbank, however, is very stingy in triple-distilled Hazelburn editions.
The 13 year old Hazelburn single malt whiskey is aged in barrels that previously contained sherry oloroso, a particular variety of sherry that is more fragrant and sweet.
Hazelburn single malt whiskey 13 years Oloroso Cask is one of these limited editions.
Distilled in June 2007, it was bottled in September 2020 in only 9,900 bottles.

This latest 13-year-old batch was bottled in 2020 at full grade, 50.3 degrees, and aged exclusively in barrels that previously contained Oloroso sherry.
As always, Springbank does not color or filter, and to the eye it appears rather dark.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Dark, very dense.
Aroma: Complex with notes of red fruit, orange peel intertwined with notes of hazelnuts and caramel.
Taste: Rich and balanced, spicy with notes of orange peel, dark chocolate and hints of cooked pears, raisins and custard.
Final: Long, sweet and spicy with a hint of candied fruit combined with chocolate and dried fruit.
So let's recap: peat, sherry and whiskey, in a mix aged for over 13 years in Scotland and a limited edition always highly sought after.
