William “Ashton” Taylor worked twenty-five years for Dunhill producing some of the most beautiful pipes of the famous English brand of the white point.
Asthon pipes take up the famous Dunhill pipes of the eighties in the shapes, elegance, lines and finishes.
But William “Ashton” Taylor's Pebble Grain pipes are famous for the treatment that the briar undergoes.
William had to find a solution to eliminate the tannin from the 'young' wood.
To this end, his pipe heads are now hardened in boiling oil which gives them an excellent yield and avoids the appearance of the bitter taste, typical of fresh briar.
This particular treatment and drying in ovens make Ashton pipes among the lightest tobacco pipes in the world.
Another feature of Ashton pipes is the material of the mouthpiece.
A mixture composed of the two materials, which he called asthonite, which he proceeded to patent.
The asthonite mouthpieces are not quite as soft as rubber, which is comfortable to hold between the teeth, but they are much more pleasant than the hard acrylic ones.
On the other hand, they do not change color and retain their shiny black color.
Here we have an Ashton Pebble Grain pipe in sandblasted briar shape dublin with short torch.
A well-proportioned and very light pipe. Pleasant to hold. Elegant.
The foot of the pipe is flat so as to allow easy support on any surface.
The color of this Ashton Pebble Grain doublin shaped pipe is natural and the shine is given by the carnauba wax.
Each Asthon Pebble Grain pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece and the photos you see portray this exclusive pipe, the same, once purchased, will be removed from the catalog.
If you need more detailed photos, we will be happy to send them to you.
