The brandy shape, so balanced and resembling an egg, with a high chimney, is the flagship shape for Gheppo pipes.
Gheppo Italian Pipes by Danilo Zunino is a beautiful and interesting new venture in the world of handmade Italian high-grade pipes.
Danilo of Gheppo Pipes began as an IBES bartender and, as a passionate pipe smoker, became fascinated by sculpting and creating his own perfect pipe.
His pipe-making technique was already well-established when he turned to Romeo "Mimmo" Domenico to deepen his knowledge and purchase high-grade briar.
His encounter with the dynamic Romeo "Mimmo" Domenico captivated him, and Danilo became an apprentice sawyer (the one who cuts the briar) at Romeo Briar in Taggia.
The apprenticeship was long, but Danilo Zunino fell in love with briar and improved year after year.
Danilo of Gheppo Pipes continued to cut briar to the highest standards, and along with his cutting, Danilo developed as a pipe maker under the guidance of master Mimmo.
With an understanding of briar cutting, Danilo was able to utilize the grain in a way only Mimmo Romeo could.
But alongside the aesthetics and the forms inspired by the works of master Ingo Garbe, a refined technique was honed.
The pipe holes are hand-drilled with extreme precision, and the mouthpieces are crafted to facilitate the passage of smoke and reduce water condensation.
Gheppo pipes, personally and exclusively handcrafted, are the result of long and patient workmanship.
All Danilo pipes are natural, without stains or color.
The beauty of the natural grain and color of the briar is visible in each of his pipes.
Production is very limited, a maximum of 30 extraordinary pipes per year.
Here we have a Gheppo Italian Pipes pipe with a classic curved brandy shape and a dark natural briar finish.
The pipe is aesthetically perfect, with the grain of the briar following and elongating the pipe's bowl.
The shank is long and curved, pierced on a curve, and ends with a light-colored bone flock.
The black Cumberland mouthpiece has a very elegant bone ring.
This semi-bent Gheppo brandy pipe is well-balanced, compact with a high bowl, and above all, lightweight.
The briar is fully showcased in this brandy-shaped pipe.
The pipe's lines seem to emerge from the briar's flame.
Each Gheppo Italian Pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece, and the photos you see depict this exclusive pipe.
If you require additional photos, we'd be happy to send them to you.
