New complex, intriguing version of the classic Macallan 12 y.o. triple cask.

Macallan 12 Years Old triple Cask is a single malt Scotch whiskey aged for at least 12 years in a combination of three different cask types.

Released in 2018 the triple cask takes the place of the 12 year old fine oak as the distillery's entry level.

This whiskey brings in our glasses a Macallan aged in different barrels than the classic sherry.

The Macallan 12 Years Old Triple Cask is in fact aged in a mix of European and American ex-sherry barrels and American ex-bourbon oak barrels.

Eighty percent of the aromatic character of a single malt depends on the barrels in which it ages.

The Fine Oak series, of which this 12-year-old Single Malt is part, was created with the aim of adding a lighter and fresher profile to the strong personality of the whiskey distilled in Macallan.

The Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Macallan 12 Years Old triple Cask is distilled in the new distillery and after 12 years of aging it is bottled at an alcohol content of 40.

The Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Macallan is delicious when drunk neat, and when diluted with water it is characterized by hints of green apple, kiwi, pineapple, vanilla and eucalyptus, and is characterized by refreshing flavors of strawberry, grapefruit, blueberry and white chocolate.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Bright gold.

Aroma: Clean and delicate with notes of vanilla, oak, barley malt with hints of honey and caramel.

Taste: Soft with a good touch of sherry followed by notes of lemon, orange peel, oak and vanilla.

Final: Medium persistence with notes of vanilla, dried fruit and sultanas.

Macallan 12 Years Old triple Cask is to be paired with a wonderful Cohiba Magicos cigar or an Eiroa Classic corona.
