Aged initially in ex bourbon oak barrels this selection from the Isle of Arran ended up in barrels that previously contained Port wine.
The end result is a single malt full of charm, complexity and quality.
Arran's Master Distiller, James MacTaggart, closely monitored this single malt throughout its finish, to ensure the perfect balance between Arran's classic sweet-fruity and the qualities of sweet port fortified wine.
The result is a sweet and fruity whiskey with the classic Arran style.
Whiskey Arran Porto Cask on the nose is initially sweet with notes of dried fruit, cherries and chocolate, continuing it becomes deeper with notes of caramelized fruit.
On the palate, Arran Porto Cask whiskey begins fresh but soon turns into notes of warm toffee, apples and hazelnuts with hints of milk chocolate and candied fruit.
The finish is moderately persistent with notes of caramelized barley.
An exceptional Arran Single malt whiskey was born!
