WhistlePig 10 Years Old Rye Whiskey, ten years of aging and mashbill made with only rye for a truly quality rye whiskey.
Whistlepig is a recent production company, with a history that has some peculiarities: founded in 2007, it is based in an old Vermont farm and has focused exclusively on the production of rye whiskey.
However, at the moment the more mature expressions are made with the use of rye from an undeclared distillery located in Alberta, Canada.
Technically, therefore, one should speak of a Canadian rye rather than a US product.
Whistlepig herself, on the label, specifies that only bottling took place at them but, in reality, after aging in new barrels, also a finish in ex-Bourbon barrels.
Furthermore, since 2015, a distillation of locally grown rye has been started, also releasing the first products which, however, continue to present a fair percentage of Canadian rye in the mashbill.
For the Whistlepig 10 y.o. only Canadian rye was used, as for the more mature 12, 15 and 18.
Another peculiarity, then, is that it is a 100% rye which, as the most informed will know, is certainly not common. Whistlepig has been awarded numerous awards and the company prides itself on making the most awarded Rye in the world.
