  • Armagnac

Armagnac, like Cognac, is among the oldest wine spirits in France.

The wines used to produce this distillate are made in well-defined areas: Gers, Landes, Lot and Garonne, located in southwestern France.

The Armagnac production area is divided into 3 regions: Bas Armagnac, Ténarèze and Haut Armagnac.

According to French law, there are 3 classifications relating to the aging of Armagnac: "Trois Etolies" or "VS" (with at least one year of aging); "VSOP" or "Reserve" (with at least 4 years of aging); “Extra” - “Napoleon” - “XO” - “Vielle Reserve” (with over 5 years of aging).

It is interesting to know that in 1909 the "doc" of this brandy was created, to protect it from the recurring imitations of the time and to differentiate it from Cognac.

The important differences between armagnac and Cognac are substantially related to the production area (more than 200 km away), the type of grapes used for the wine to be distilled, the type of still used, the barrels to age the 2 distillates and also the fact that Cognac is also produced by large industries, while Armagnac remains an artisanal product.

Another great peculiarity of the bas armagnac is the thousandth, or year of production: we can find armagnac aged 25 years, or from 1969, 1961 or 1992, this is because the aging disciplinary allows greater flexibility than cognac.

Today Armagnac is sold in 130 countries around the world.

  • Bourbon

Online sale of Bourbon Kentuchy Whiskey and the original Moonshine U.S.A, aged and not from the best distilleries!

Bourbon is a brandy obtained from the distillation of corn must, in a percentage that must be at least 51% of the mash bill and other cereals including rye (rye), wheat and malt.

Another fundamental characteristic is that it must strictly refine in American oak barrels, previously burned.

We are therefore talking about an extreme distillate, unfiltered, non-dosed and devoid of any coloring, such as caramel; this choice is reflected in a sweeter and buttery starting taste due to corn, to which are added caramel, woody, toffee, toffee, popcorn and obviously vanilla flavors and aromas. What is never lacking is wood, intense and very smoky, but there is not the slightest trace of peat except in Mc Carthy's whiskey from Oregon, considered the Caol Illa of Bourbons.

Bourbon is the most famous type of Whiskey in the United States and is produced with the distillation of a mixture of cereals, in which corn occupies the preponderant part.

The name Bourbon derives from the Bourbon of France, once the 'owners' of the main states of the southern United States, who gave their name to Bourbon County, the county in the state of Kentucky where the whiskey was born

Bourbon Whiskey owes its name to the county of the same name in the state of Kentucky, where it was first produced in 1789 by Reverend Elijah Craig.

According to the disciplinary, in order to be called Bourbon the distillate must be aged in new and toasted oak barrels: this procedure gives it the classic amber color and hints of vanilla and wood; if the barrel rest is two years it can be called Straight Bourbon.

Another popular variety is rye whiskey, the base of which is made up of rye - in English rye - and other cereals: an American whiskey with a pale blond color and a high alcohol content.

In this section you can choose the best Bourbons to be enjoyed straight, with ice (on the rocks, as they say) or in cocktails such as Bourbon Sour or Old Fashioned.

Tabaccheria Toto13 has recently expanded the offer of the rare spirits sector, wine shop, thanks to the introduction of a new liqueur of American origin from the distant state of Tennessee, Moonshine.

  • Cognac

Fine cognacs from the best French distilleries in the Charentes region, discover our range of fine cognacs Champagne primoer cru!

Produced around the French town of the same name, in the historic region of Charente, Cognac is considered to be the most refined of wine spirits.

Its production is limited to six official areas, called cru, where Ugni Blanc is grown, a grape from which fresh and low alcoholic whites are obtained, ideal for distillation.

The production process involves a double distillation in traditional Charentais swan neck stills, dating back to the 16th century.

The product must then age in Limousin or Allier oak barrels, taking on different qualifications depending on the aging period, ranging from a minimum of 30 months up to tens of years.

The definition of the best Cognacs goes through, in addition to the definition of the crus, also the indication of the aging periods.

By law, only oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais can be used, for a period of not less than 2 years.

It is common practice to mix spirits subjected to different types of aging, in order to obtain products characterized by an impeccable balance.

In this case, the declared aging must correspond to that of the younger brandy used in mixing.

The VS abbreviation indicates a period of aging in wood of not less than 2 years, that is the minimum.

The VSOP acronym, corresponding to the term Réserve, indicates a minimum of 4 years. XO instead means Extra Old and foresees an aging of at least 6 years.

The unofficial wording of Napoleon, inaugurated for the Courvoisier Cognac, indicates an intermediate period between VSOP and XO; while Hors d’Age is usually written on labels to indicate longer aging.

Obviously the longer the aging period is usually directly proportional to the price.

The long period of aging in wood contributes to the exceptional refinement of the final product, excellent to be enjoyed neat to better appreciate its typical warm and velvety touch.

  • Agave Spirits - Tequila

Agave, Tequila and Mezcal Spirits: A Journey into the Heart of Mexican Heritage

Agave spirits are undoubtedly one of the most authentic and fascinating symbols of Mexican culture.

Among these, tequila and mezcal stand out as two distilling disciplines that, while sharing the same raw material, differ in methods, territory and aromatic profiles, offering a rich and varied panorama of flavors and traditions.

Agave: Sacred Plant and Raw Material of Excellence

Agave, a succulent plant belonging to the Asparagaceae family, grows wild and cultivated in the arid and semi-arid region of Mexico.

This plant, considered sacred in pre-Columbian civilizations, takes many years (often from 7 to 15) to reach maturity, the ideal time for its harvest and transformation.

The varieties of agave used for distillates are mainly the Blue Agave (Agave tequilana Weber Azul) for tequila and different varieties of mezcal, such as the Agave espadín, which give different characteristics to the final product.

    Tequila: Protected National Symbol

Produced in the region of Jalisco and in some limited areas between states such as Michoacán, Guanajuato and Tamaulipas, tequila is a distillate with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), which guarantees its origin and traditional production methods.

    The processing involves:

Cooking the agave stalks in stone ovens or autoclaves to extract the sugary juices.

    Pressing to obtain the juice.

    Natural or controlled fermentation.

Traditional distillation in copper stills or columns.

Aged in wooden barrels to obtain varieties such as reposado and añejo, or immediately bottled as blanco or plata.

    Mezcal: The Smoked Spirit

Mezcal, also produced exclusively in Mexico, differs from tequila mainly in the method of cooking the agave: the plants are roasted in underground stone ovens, which gives the spirit its characteristic smoky aroma.

This traditional method, combined with a wide range of wild agaves, results in a product with complex aromatic profiles and various nuances of taste, from smooth and sweet to wild and earthy. Mezcal can be produced in many regions of Mexico, with some of the most prized varieties coming from Oaxaca.

Key Differences Between Tequila and Mezcal:

One of the main differences between tequila and mezcal lies in the raw material used.

Tequila is made exclusively from Blue Agave (Agave tequilana Weber Azul), while mezcal can be made from different varieties of agave, such as espadín, madrecuixe or tobalá, among others.

In terms of production area, tequila is mainly developed in the state of Jalisco and in some limited areas of Mexico, while mezcal is produced in various regions, including Oaxaca, Guerrero and Durango, each with its own specific climates and soils.

A key distinguishing element is the cooking method of the agave plants: for tequila, the stalks are cooked in stone ovens or autoclaves, a process that preserves a fresher and more herbaceous flavor.

In contrast, in the mezcal process, the agave plants are roasted in deep underground stone ovens, often using wood or wooden pado, which gives the product its characteristic smoky and earthy aroma.

From an organoleptic point of view, tequila has a generally fresh, herbaceous and citrusy profile, with a cleaner and more direct taste.

Mezcal, on the other hand, is distinguished by complex and more intense aromas, with hints of smoke, wood, wild herbs and a mineral aftertaste that underlines the richness of its aromatic nuances.

In terms of use and tradition, tequila is often used in cocktails such as the Margarita or Tequila Sunrise, and is also appreciated on its own.

Mezcal, on the other hand, is traditionally tasted on its own, sip after sip, to fully appreciate its much deeper and more complex sensory characteristics.

    Tasting Notes and Sensory Profile

Tequila Blanco: Clear and bright, with notes of citrus, pine and a hint of raw agave. Dry, clean taste.

Tequila Reposado: Aged in wood, with aromas of vanilla, honey and light spices.

Mezcal: Deep and complex, with hints of smoke, wood, citrus, herbs and often a mineral aftertaste. Its profile varies.

Immerse yourself in the authentic flavors that only artisanal tequila and mezcal can offer. Explore our selection and discover your favorite for an unforgettable Mexican experience.

  • Zero alcohol

The new trend among artisanal distillers is called “non alcoholic distilled spirits”. In other words: alcohol-free spirits.

Why are we talking about alcohol-free spirits and not alcohol-free spirits?

The reason is simple: because "alcohol", by definition, must contain at least fifteen percent alcohol.

The term distillate, on the other hand, refers only to the condensed vapor that drips into an alembic. To put it roughly: a distiller herbal water.

Basically, the production of alcohol-free spirits does not differ much from alcohol-rich spirits.

For example, a gin is produced like a regular gin: Some flavors, such as those of citrus fruits, are very soluble in water, while others, such as juniper berries, are not soluble in water.

In this case, the aromas are extracted from the juniper with oil and sugar as an intermediate step and then added back to the water. Then the whole product is distilled and stored.

To replace the missing alcohol, it is necessary to give strong gustatory stimuli. Therefore, strong spices are used a lot.

Distillates and zero alcohol gins are not just the fashion of the moment, not to be missed in trendy parties, but with their tastes and aromas, they are able to satisfy the most demanding palates, maintaining benefits for the health of the body and driving license..

In the Zero Alcohol Category you will find the best alcohol-free drinks, alcohol-free wine and beer Made in Italy and abroad, to buy online, from the comfort of your home.

Thanks to its zero alcohol content, it can be drunk freely by everyone like any other non-alcoholic drink.

  • Cachaça

Cachaça: Brazil's Aromatic Treasure and Its Unique Varieties

Cachaça is one of Brazil's most emblematic and representative spirits, loved for its unmistakable taste and its central role in Brazilian culture and traditions.

Considered the "twin" of rum, cachaça is appreciated throughout the world for its versatility and unique aromatic characteristics.

    What is Cachaça?

Cachaça is a spirit obtained from the fermentation and distillation of sugar cane juice.

Its production dates back centuries, and represents a true traditional art that combines ancient and innovative methods. Its distinctive feature is its intense aroma of fresh cane and notes of sweetness and spice that make it perfect for cocktails such as the caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail.

    Characteristics of Cachaça

Aroma and Flavor: Cachaça has a rich and complex aromatic profile, with notes of sugar cane, fresh fruit, herbs and sometimes light nuances of vanilla or spices, depending on the aging method.

Appearance: Often clear and bright, but can take on an amber color if aged in barrels.

Alcohol Content: Usually ranges between 38 and 48% ABV, making it an energetic and intense distillate.

    Varieties of Cachaça

There are different types of cachaça, which are distinguished mainly by the production methods and aging:

Fresh Cachaça: Unaged, this version is clear and aromatic, ideal for cocktails such as caipirinha. Its fresh flavor and cane fragrance make it perfect for direct consumption.

Aged Cachaça: It undergoes a period of maturation in wooden barrels, which gives it an amber color and more complex aromas, with notes of vanilla, carob and spices.

It is ideal for sipping alone or in more elaborate cocktails.

Premium Cachaça: Distilled with artisanal techniques and aged in superior quality barrels, this variety stands out for its aromatic finesse and smoothness on the palate.

    Tradition and Innovation

The production of cachaça is a cultural heritage of Brazil, passed down from generation to generation.

However, today many distillers are innovating in the choice of distillation and aging techniques, creating products that satisfy even the most demanding palates internationally.

    Why Choose Cachaça?

If you want to discover an authentic spirit, with character and a complex aroma, cachaça is the perfect choice.

In addition to its role in the classic Brazilian cocktail, the caipirinha, cachaça also lends itself to pure tastings, to fully appreciate the richness of its sensory profile.
