The fourth seasonal edition of the whiskey from the Lochlea distillery has finally arrived, the Harvest dedicated to winter.

Lochlea is a Scottish farm outside Kilmarnock, a new Scottish micro distillery opened a few years ago, with a capacity of just 200,000 liters a year.

This Single malt whisky, the fourth official release of the season, has finally been bottled, under the supervision of the former director of the Laphroaig distillery John Campbell, and the result of the alembic distillation of only barley grown directly in the fields of Lochlea Farm.

The Lochlea Harvest edition 1 crop is a single malt aged in a mix of ex Sherry Oloroso, ex Port and ex Bourbon casks.

Lochlea Farm was bought in 2006 by Neil McGeoch and at least initially the idea of distilling single malt was not contemplated, on the farm they only thought of cereals and cattle breeding.

The McGeoch family, in fact, has a long experience in growing barley to supply the whiskey industry.

Over time, however, the idea of opening one's own distillery became stronger and stronger, and this is how the distillation license was requested in 2014, while the distillery was built in 2017.

Fourth official release after the inaugural one, the "Fallow Edition" of Lochlea is a series of limited bottlings inspired by the changing of the seasons.

For the creation of these releases, the distillery uses only barley grown on its own land and belonging to a specific season, Harvest refers to the harsh and cold winter, when everything on the farm seems to stop.

The Lochlea harvest Edition First Crop is a single malt Scotch whiskey that uses only barley from Lochlea Farm, distilled in 2018 it was aged for three years exclusively in a mix of ex Sherry Oloroso casks, ex Port and ex Bourbon casks, before to be bottled at 46% vol. without being cold filtered and without the addition of colourings.

This Lochlea Harvest edition Whiskey has a very good percentage of increase in value ... a real liquid gold!
