Finally here we are, here is the first release of the heavily peated Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 16 year whiskey selected and aged by Rest & Be Thankful.
A novelty from the creators of the Rest & Be Thankful selection, a new highly peated whiskey that is delicious!
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 2005 Aged 16 Year Single Malt was created by master distiller Jim McEwan to showcase the character and elegant style of the Bruichladdich.
And he succeeded completely, so much so that one cannot understand the value and quality of Bruichladdich peated whiskeys.
This is an ex-Wine Hogshead distilled in October 2005, matured for 16 years on the Isle of Islay before being bottled in August 2022 at the full degree of 54.6% in just 272 examples.
This mix of casks used for aging softens and gives a good structure to the Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 16 years which, despite its alcohol content of 54.6 degrees and a peat content of 40 ppm, conquers at the first sip.
This single malt was produced exclusively with Optic and Oxibridge variety barley from the Isle of Islay.
This Single malt from the island of Islay is well suited for a sip, a relaxing and meditative evening dram.
Equipped with an elegant and fun colored box, it is always an appreciated gift and being the first release it is highly sought after by collectors.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Intense gold.
Aroma: Very balanced, the contribution of the barrel is felt together with a fruity and floral distillate. Well integrated smoke. Palate: Fresh fruit, vanilla, excellent texture, intense smoke, seaweed.
Finish: Superb, long and persistent, smoke and yellow apple.
For a pairing with Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 2005 Rest & Be Thankful 16 years we recommend the floral and intense Drew Estate Undercrown Flying pig.
