The Mars Cosmo Manzanilla cask finisk is a sweet and addictive limited edition of the small Japanese distillery.

Hombo Shuzo Ltd is an old Japanese liquor company, founded in 1872.

Traditionally they were producers of "shochu", but in 1985 they built the Shinshu Mars Distillery in Miyata village, to start producing whiskey and brandy.

The whiskey was sold under the brand name Mars Whiskey and quickly became famous.

Unfortunately the demand wasn't great enough and they stopped producing the whiskey in 1992.

Then, in February of 2011, whiskey production was restarted at the Shinshu Mars distillery.

On August 6, 2014, Hombo Shuzo finally released the first whiskey produced since the reboot, the 2011 Komagatake Mars Whiskey The Revival.

Subsequently, given the success of its Mars whiskies, the Shinshu Mars Distillery decided to create a slightly peated Mars Maltage Cosmo blended whisky.

Mars Maltage Cosmo is a blended whiskey that comes from the mixing of different Scottish and Japanese Single Malt Whiskeys, aged in different types of barrels for different refinement periods.

The distillery is very careful in selecting the different original lots, so as to obtain a balanced final product, which can have a soul that, although the result of a cut, is coherent.

In this case, the best malts aged in ex manzanilla sherry casks were selected.

The Mars Maltage cosmo manzanilla sherry cask, after assembly, is left to rest in ex sherry wood, slowly maturing due to the harsh climate that distinguishes the area of the Japanese Alps.

Tasting Notes:

Color: intense amber.

Perfumes: the nose welcomes with fruity notes of currant and plum, toasted tones of hazelnut and spicy sweet vanilla, all in an earthy background.

Taste: The taste is soft, enveloping and round, with a succession of citrus fruits, cocoa and caramel, with a long persistence somewhere between cereals and oak.
