Both single malt have been aged three years in the former Bourbon First Fill Cask.

Shizuoka's distillery is located on the wooded hills west of the city of Shizuoka. And that city is about 1.5 hours of fast Shinkansen, south of the center of Tokyo.

Taiko Nakamura was inspired during a trip to the distilleries in Scotland and decided to build his distillery near his hometown of Shizuoka.

His wife Mika imports Scottish whiskey with her Gaia-Flow company.

So they were already in business with the drink. As an engineer, Taiko had his installation company and used this knowledge to build a very traditional distillery on one side and very modern on the other.

While crossing this distillery with a splendid position, you will notice the beautiful wooden washbasins, as well as the very modern return valves and level indicators.

For Japanese whiskey connoisseurs, the name Karuizawa has almost a mythical meaning.

The ancestor of this disappeared distillery were part of Taiko Nakamura's plans when he designed Shizuoka's distillery.

Previously, he had purchased these auction auction.

Unfortunately, however, the Karuizawa Anambicchi were bad to use, except one.

The Shizuoka Distillery now has 2 ancestrals produced by Forsyth's in Scotland and 1 ancestor who previously served Karuizawa a long time ago.

The "old" Karuizawa is still in production is again in production.

But also the 2 "Scottish" Ambicchi are to say the least special. Above all, the "Wash Still" can be described as such.

In fact, this is heated directly with wood fire in the boiler under the ancestor.

Throughout the day, an employee takes the fire by adding strains to the fire.

Something that no longer happens, but that gives whiskey a special character.

Tasting note:

The single Malt Prolouge K is distilled with Karuizawa alambicco, fills the fresh vanilla nose, hot candies, lilac flower in spring, pine forest with autumn and white fruit.

Flavors of combined white herbs with terrose notes, once again that first mentioned combined with white fruit and lillà, after which the tongue has not let the herbs go.

The single malt prologue W distilled with alembic over high heat, fills the nose of more white fruit combined with tumum candies, green apples and then evolving into sweet soy sauce. A combination of charred oak and a pinch of skin takes over.

The taste is full of brûlée cream, oak wood, pepper (white), exotic herbs and much more. The finish is also long and hot with the wooden smoke that is part.
