Cardenal Mendoza Card Real Brandy of Jerez – Solera Gran Reserva

In 1981, to celebrate the bicentennial of the Cardenal Mendoza bodega and look towards the new century, a cask of Cardenal Mendoza Brandy was set aside to commemorate the new millennium.

Aging over 30 years of aging, in barrels that have previously contained Sherry Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez.

This brandy has been quietly maturing for nearly two decades, patiently awaiting its bottling and release to the market.

this solera gran reserva brandy was named Carta Real in memory of a dinner where wines and brandies from Sánchez Romate were served in the Royal Palace of Madrid on December 2, 1900.

At that time, Juan Manuel Sánchez y Gutiérrez de Castro, the owner of the bodega, was a minister to King Alfonso XII, and ennobled by him with the title of Duke of Algeciras in recognition of his successful organization of the Algeciras International Conference in 1906 .

Tasting notes:

View: dark, bright, luminous color.

Perfumes: elegant, deep perfume, with hints of dried fruit admirably amalgamated with memories of oak. Gastronomic matches: at room temperature, it is extraordinary at the end of an important lunch or dinner, after coffee.

You can combine Solrea gran reserva Carta real brandy with aromatic and scented cigars such as the new Davidoff Escurio or a wonderful pipe tobacco such as Robert McConnell Glen Piper with its notes of rum and chocolate.
