The Traditional Aging Method with the Solera system.
Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real achieves its extraordinary complexity thanks to a unique maturation process:
Extended aging for over 30 years in the traditional Solera system.
Selected barrels that have previously held prized Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry.
Patient maturation through nearly two decades of waiting before bottling.
Rigorous quality control to ensure the excellence of the final product.
The Origin of the Name: A Royal Dinner in the History of Spanish Brandy Cardenal Mendoza.
The name "Carta Real" commemorates a highly prestigious historical event: the dinner of December 2, 1900, at the Royal Palace in Madrid, where Sánchez Romate wines and brandy were served to the royal court.
Juan Manuel Sánchez y Gutiérrez de Castro, owner of the bodega, served as minister to King Alfonso XII and was later ennobled with the title of Duke of Algeciras in 1906, in recognition of his success in organizing the Algeciras International Conference.
