Edith Corrieri is not only one of the few women who work in the pipe sector, but she is also the only producer of meerschaum pipes.

In 1904 Edmund Jolitschke founded the company which initially produced mouthpieces for cigars and cigarettes and later meerschaum pipes which became the product of main interest.

Robert Strambach joined his uncle's company in 1922, expanded it and later took over the reins.

He himself made the meerschaum pipes and the Calabash and additionally developed a process for producing the mass of meerschaum, a material still used in the cheaper pipes.

Having for many years not felt the need to own his own brand, Robert Strambach produced meerschaum pipes on behalf of numerous other factories, among which were also renowned producers of briar pipes who wanted to enrich their range of products by introducing the " white goddess".

A change occurred when Edith Corrieri, only daughter of Robert Strambach, took over from her father in 1974.

Master turner, his goal now consists in the marketing of fine pipes marked with the name of the company. In addition to the blocky meerschaum models, laboriously carved and decorated largely with artistic silver applications, the company manufactures Calabash pipes with colored heads as well as inexpensive pipes of pressed meerschaum.

In 1981 the Robert Strambach factory, which remained the only meerschaum producer, was awarded the coat of arms of the Austrian state and Edith Corrieri was awarded the title of "Commerce Councilor" for her merits.

Strambach's pipes, made personally and exclusively by hand, are the result of a long and patient process.

Characteristic of Strambach's pipes is the imaginative, artistic calabash shape, linked to the character of Sherlock Holmes.

Classic or modern, they are carved in the most selected and precious pumpkin while the stove is in ceramic.

Large pipe made from dried African pumpkin and lined with sea foam on the inside to prevent burning of the natural material with which it is made.

The cooler and drier smoke is the prerogative of this pipe, in fact, passing through the expansion chamber that is created under the stove and coming into contact with the natural walls, the benefits listed above are obtained.

Each Strambach pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece and the photos you see portray this exclusive pipe, once purchased, it will be removed from the catalogue.

If you need more detailed photos, we will be happy to send them to you.
