An extraordinary pumpkin pipe from the Andreas Bauer & sons collection of Vienna.
A small calabash pipe, equipped with a seppiolite or sea foam bowl, a large silver ring and a black ebonite mouthpiece.
Andreas Bauer took up the legacy of the Strambach company of which he was first a student and then production manager, subsequently founding his own company to produce exclusive calabash pipes.
Master turner, his goal now consists in marketing high-quality pipes bearing the name of the Andreas Bauer & Sons company from Vienna.
In addition to blocky meerschaum models, laboriously carved and decorated largely with artistic silver appliqué, the company makes Calabash pipes with colored heads as well as inexpensive pipes of pressed meerschaum.
The pipes of Andreas Bauer & sons of Vienna were made personally and exclusively by hand, they were the result of long and patient workmanship.
Now the company has closed down and its pumpkin pipes called Calabash are considered antique treasures, to be shown off to pipe collectors.
Characteristic of Andreas Bauer's pipes is the curved cornet or calabash shape, imaginative, artistic, linked to the character of Sherlock Holmes.
Classic they are carved in the most selected and precious pumpkin while the stove is in sea foam.
The stove is small and very light, but combined with the smoke expansion vessel, created by the body of the pumpkin, it generates soft and dry smoke.
Medium-sized pipe made from dried African pumpkin and lined with sea foam on the inside to avoid burning the natural material with which it is made.
The freshest and driest smoke is the prerogative of this pipe, in fact by passing through the expansion chamber that is created under the bowl and coming into contact with the natural walls you obtain the benefits of fresh and dry smoke, soft in taste.
Each pipe by Andreas Bauer & sons of Vienna is a unique and unrepeatable piece and the photos you see portray this exclusive pipe, once purchased it will be removed from the catalogue.
