Distilled in 1985 it aged until 2001 when it was bottled, an intense and fragrant rum.
The Foursquare 1985 will be put on the market only in 2015 for the 30th anniversary of Richard Seale's distillery and was the first Foursquare rum distributed in Italy by Luca Gargano's Velier.
The 1985 Foursquare was bottled in the tropics in November 2001 and very few bottles were produced.
Foursquare 1985 old Barbados rum was immediately considered among the best rums in the world.
Note the label of the bottle showing 750 ml then corrected by hand to 70CL.
This Old Barbados Rum by Foursquare is a very rare collector's rum, a little treasure!
Tasting Notes:
Color: light amber.
Nose: like an old El Dorado, only with more strength and less caramel. This means that it is not very phenolic rum, and that I'm finding quite some toasted oak, cake, mocha, dried bananas and figs, coffee beans... and a light note of smoke, of old cigars, cedar wood, quality turpentine, earthy, mushrooms, very old Burgundy ...
In a way, it is quite gentle, despite the 43 degree strength.
Mouth: more intense, fatter, extremely concentrated, with a little incense, rose jelly, bitter oranges, licorice wood and vanilla.
Finish: long, minty, rich, honey.
