Hampden Estate Pagos 2023 is the second official bottling of the Hampden Estate and Velier partnership of the Gargano family, entirely aged in ex sherry barrels of the most famous Fundador winery.

Hampden Estate Pagos Pure single Jamaica rum is a second edition to be tasted because it is delicious!

This second release from Hampden Pagos was entirely aged in 80 ex-Sherry barrels sourced from Bodegas Fundador and purchased specifically after being selected by Luca Gargano.

The rum is made from a blend of 14 barrels of HLCF 2021, aged in barrels in June 2022.

"Today Hampden opens a new frontier for all rum enthusiasts. These official bottlings mark a historic moment for the world of spirits, comparable to the arrival on the market of Islay Single Malts in the 1980s.

With Hampden Pagos we wanted to create an amazing rum with character, taking inspiration from the best Macallan whiskeys aged in ex-sherry casks.

I personally selected a 500 liter ex pedro ximenes Foundador sherry cask, to combine the crunchy aromas of the Hampden with the balanced sweetness of the sherry.”

Hampden, renowned among Jamaican rums for producing intensely flavored spirits, which are the quintessential rum in Europe and other parts of the world, pairs perfectly with the cherry and cocoa hints of sherry.

Founded in 1753 in Trelawny, Hampden Estate is one of the oldest sugar cane processing companies in Jamaica and its products are characterized by total respect for the island's tradition.

Hampden still today uses exclusively copper stills, so all the rums are produced with 100% pot-still distillation and, as in the best Jamaican tradition, the fermentation takes place for rather long times with natural yeasts.

This guarantees the development of intense and unique aromas.

The Hampden Estate produces typically high quality Jamaican rums and supplies, among other things, rums to Luca Gargano for Habitation Velier.

Produced in Trelawny, Jamaica, it is known for its intense flavor.

Ancient techniques are used to produce it, handed down from generation to generation.

Use of own spring water in the different production phases.

Prolonged fermentation with the use of wild yeasts.

Distillation exclusively in pot still.

The production follows techniques in use since the 18th century which determine a high value of esters and which give the product a unique aromatic profile

Tropical aging; both references distributed by Velier are aged more than 7 years in Jamaica, which is equivalent to an aging of approximately 25 years in Europe.

Natural color and no added sugar in the rum.

Tasting Notes:

Color: very dark amber.

Aromas: intense fruity notes, delicately spicy, accompanied by hints of cherry chocolate and cooked apple juice, it is a rum with a very long finish, ideal for single tasting.

The evolution of perfumes in the glass is continuous, it will amaze you.

Taste: Very powerful, the sip is full, rich, structured. Long finish on notes of caramel and custard, vanilla, spices, chocolate.

Finish: long, rich, honey. Hard to forget.

Rum Hampden Pagos sherry cask is to be combined with powerful cigars full of aroma such as Aroma de Caribe mi amor or Aladino Toro cigars.
