Single cask #888 distilled 2020 and bottled 2024 after only 4 years in a special barrel.

The small distillery Toscana Winestillery, which surprised us with the releases of gin, vodka and Tuscan Vermouth, was born in 2018 as an excise-duty entity capable of using the most local raw material: the grapes and wine produced by the same family of Chioccioli Altadonna winemakers.

Florentis Tuscan Malt Whiskey Primo Single Cask represents the first chapter in the world of whiskey for the Chioccioli Altadonna family.

The starting point is a mashbill of Italian barley, rye and wheat malts fermented spontaneously for a period of six days.

The mashbill thus produced, very fragrant and rich, is then distilled through a double retort still with two columns.

The Tuscan Malt Whiskey is produced with the 500 liter Frilli still, also a Made in Tuscany product but astonishing in terms of technology, innovation, aesthetics and quality of the product.

It was called "Primo" because it is precisely the first whiskey in the history of Florentis, but also because it is the first Italian whiskey distributed by Velier.

Further uniqueness is the oak barrel used for aging, it is made with Tuscan oak, and proudly made in Tuscany. A cask that worked perfectly creating a sublime, delicious single malt.

Florentis Tuscan Malt Whiskey Primo Single Cask embodies artisanal excellence and dedication to tradition, offering a unique and authentic experience in the world of Italian whisky, of Italian style applied to the world of single malt whiskies.

Florentis Primo is certainly one of the best single malts in the world, it's a shame that only 318 bottles are available.

Tasting Notes:

Color: antique gold, liquid gold.

Perfumes: Vanilla and honey-like on the nose, with iodized hints and white flowers. Apricot and vanilla on the bottom.

Taste: Caramel, honey and vanilla on the palate. Slightly peppery, spicy but very balanced phenolic finish. Persistence is excellent.
