Habitation Velier Hampden 2016 OWH, the House of Pure Single Rum, the world's only range of Pure Single Rum from different distilleries.
The reason for the project, however, is much more than merely commercial: the Habitation Velier range was created with an educational vocation to enhance artisanal distillations and the art and technique of the distiller.
Pure Single Rum was in fact born from the classification launched by Luca Gargano and then disseminated together with the distiller Richard Seale, which distinguishes rums by distillation method and therefore with an objective identification.
Hampden OWH 2016 aged 7 years is the rarest and most popular among Habitation Velier's pure single rums.
The mark OWH is made up of the initials of Outram Warmold Hussey, father of Lawrence Francis Close Hussey, who took over Hampden in 2009.
The Hampden 2016 OWH rum fully represents the Jamaican style of rum and that of the Hampden distillery.
This single rum is the 966.4 g/hlap version of congeners.
It is produced with discontinuous distillation in a Double retort Pot Still Forsyths while aging in oak barrels takes place in a tropical climate for 6 years, bottled at full strength.
Distilled in 2016 by Hampden Estate, aged in the tropics in viere oak barrels bottled at full strength at 60%, with an angel share of 42%.
Few bottles are produced which make this Habitation Velier Hampden rum highly sought after by collectors, and also an excellent gift idea for Jamaican rum enthusiasts.
Tasting Notes:
Colour gold.
Perfumes: It gives off aromas of exotic fruit, sweet hints of pineapple combined with honey and tobacco.
Taste: On the palate it is soft, warm and powerful, with a long persistence. A mix of coriander, cane sugar and geranium honey. Finally, toffee and ripe banana calm the taste buds.
The Hampden 2016 OWH rum can be paired with classic and refined Perdomo Robusta Champagne cigars or with the original Tuscans, Italian, made of pure Kentucky tobacco.
