Kilkerran is the small distillery in Campbeltown, “cousin” of Springbank, owned by Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd.
Here we present the limited edition 2024 Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #10, ninth release of the distillery's super peated with 57.8 degrees.
Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #10 is the tenth release of a single malt heavily peated by Glengyle.
For this release of single malt scotch whisky peated without definition of age, the distillery has reached a peat level of around 80 ppm!
A peat level of around 80ppm is achieved only by Octomore another super peated Scottish whisky!
This single malt scotch whisky has been aged in a mix of casks divided into 55% ex-bourbon casks and 15% ex-sherry.
Attention Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #10 is bottled at full strength 57.8 degrees without being chill filtered and without adding colourings, a strength for experts!
A very rare and at the same time very good edition of Kilkerran.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Liquid gold.
Aroma: The nose welcomes us with peat smoke with notes of sea salt and brine, then come hints of honey and notes of cooked apple, candied citrus and salted butter.
Taste: Lightly spiced and decidedly lively on the palate, the peat smoke is definitely present with notes of dried fruit, acacia honey, citrus, olives and a light touch of vanilla.
Finish: Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #10 has good persistence, we recommend pairing it with a cigar and milk chocolate, or enjoying it alone as a digestive.
