The new limited edition Don Papa Gayuma rum aged in barrels that previously held peat whiskies distilled in Islay in Scotland, Don Papa Gayuma is a Philippine rum to collect!
Don Papa Gayuma is produced in only 6,000 bottles worldwide following a recipe of aging in different barrels that makes it unique.
This sweet Philippine rum is aged for several years in toasted American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which gives it a rare complexity of flavors.
Rum Don Papa or The Don, was inspired by the story of one of the celebrated heroes of the Philippine Revolution: Dionisio Magbuelas, better known locally as "Papa" Isio.
Initially a foreman on a sugar plantation, Papa Isio - healer, shaman, seer, rebel, and the leader of a group of babaylanes - played a pivotal role during the late 19th century Philippine Revolution.
Papa Isio's spirit and leadership played a pivotal role in liberating Negros from Spanish rule, ultimately bringing independence to his beloved country.
Rum Don Papa embodies Papa Isio's spirit of independence, irreverence and sense of justice.
Negros Occidental is and always has been the sugar capital of the Philippines.
With the perfect combination of climate, geography and the island’s rich volcanic soil, Negros is ideal for sugarcane production. And, where there’s sugar, there’s rum.
Don Papa Gayuma is a premium, limited-production aged molasses rum.
Don Papa Gayuma Rum is unique in three ways:
It is a single-island rum (Negros), made from 100% island sugarcane.
Don Papa Gayuma – meaning “love potion” – pays homage to the unique rituals performed by the shamans of Mount Kanlaon and Isla del Fuego.
It is aged in ex-bourbon American oak barrels for three years, before going through a double barrel finish: 6 months in highly toasted ex-Rioja barrels followed by 3 months in rich, warm and smoky toasted oak barrels that previously held Islay Scotch whisky.
Where there is rum, you will find Don Papa.... but you will hardly find the Gayuma release.
A treasure to hold on to!!

Taste: for a sip with hints of soft and delicate vanilla, light orange peel, intense cocoa and hints of cloves and mint, towards a smoky and spicy finish.
