Tenth anniversary since the first bottling of the Japanese Chichibu Distillery, a small distillery founded in 2004 near Tokyo that immediately positioned itself among the great whisky producers.

Ichiro Akuto in Chichibu has produced, from English malt, a peated whisky that far surpasses products that are much older.

Every note of the aromatic palette of this whisky is expressed with rare precision.

Alternating an earthy, saline, dry, mineral sensation with medicinal notes, the peat carries the aromatic score with exceptional intelligence, like an inspired conductor.

The Chichibu Peated single malt is a strongly peated whisky originally distilled in 2013, and was bottled in 2018 at the full alcohol content of 55.5% ABV.

The Ichiro single malt immediately conquered enthusiasts and collectors of Japanese whisky.

Whisky Chichibu the Peated is a limited edition, in 2018 only 11550 bottles were available.

The few bottles produced, the great demand make it a safe economic investment.

Today it is one of the most sought-after collector's whiskies and at auctions its value increases every year.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: like honey. Surprisingly amber for a whisky that is only five years old.

Nose: Lovely sweet peat. This is a really nice smoky nose. For a Scottish equivalent, think Port Charlotte or even a hint of Laphroaig.

Taste: Very powerful, flooding the palate with intense smoke and dry peat. Then it becomes fruity and spicy, with hints of vanilla, earthy notes and a finish of ginger, honey, citrus and sweet lingering wood smoke that allows it to be enjoyed for a long time. The finish has a notable minerality.
