This 8-year-old Beenleigh rum, here in a 70 cl format, is part of the second edition of the now legendary Magnum series, born in 2021 from an idea by Luca Gargano, with the aim of bringing together the great masters of rum with the great photographers of the Magnum agency.
If the first edition of the series was accompanied by the iconic images on the label by Elliott Erwitt, the second pays homage to the American photographer Alex Webb, who has been part of the agency since 1979.
This bottling is therefore accompanied by a photograph of him on the label, taken in Haiti in 1979.
Founded in 1884, the Beenleigh distillery is located on the banks of the Albert River in south-eastern Queensland.
Here we have the Magnum series #2 Beenleigh aged 8 years in ex-bourbon barrels.
The rum was distilled a first time in Column Still, with a second passage in Copper Pot Still.
Aged in ex-bourbon barrels, it was bottled at 60% and although young compared to other rums in the Magnum series, it is a true explosion of tropical aromas, surprising!
Tasting Notes:
Aromas: On the nose it is fresh and balanced, with hints of fruit, honey and wax that evolve into vanilla and licorice.
Taste: The palate is lively and generous, with notes of candied citrus, white peach and sweet spices. The finish is soft and persistent, with tones of William pear and Golden apple.
