Arran Barrel Bonfire is the second limited edition in the signature series, a heavily peated version of the Arran single malt, created by the distillery manager of the Lochranza distillery Stewart Bowman.
The Signature Series is a limited series in four parts that includes a selection of Arran single malts.
These unique bottlings have been selected by the director of the Lochranza distillery, Stewart Bowman, and have received his seal of approval, the signature on the label.
The Arran signature series Barrel Bonfire second edition single malt is aged 11 years in a mix of casks.
The quarter casks used come from the Koval distillery in Chicago, which uses these 115-litre casks for its bourbon before shipping them to Lochranza.
The whisky was bottled in bourbon casks in 2012 and matured for five and a half years before being transferred to Koval Quarter Casks in 2018, where it matured for a further five and a half years.
As only a small number of Quarter Casks have been bottled, they are extremely rare.
The smaller casks allow for more intense maturation, which gives the whisky more complex flavours and depth.
Only a few bottles of this limited edition Arran have been produced.
This single malt whisky makes a great gift for avid tasters of peated single malts and collectors.
The Signature Series showcases Arran’s craftsmanship and dedication.
