The Tsuge pipe workshop was founded in the 1930s by Kyoichiro Tsuge in Japan.
From a cigarette holder factory, what is now Japan's largest and most advanced pipe manufacturer was born.
In the 1960s, Tsuge sent several craftsmen to Denmark to learn from Danish craftsmen.
Although much of this expertise is best shown in Tsuge's hand-made Ikebana pipes, Tsuge's standard pipe production also benefits from Danish design influences, offering a portfolio that includes classic Anglo-French shapes and distinctly Danish interpretations.
Its pipe workshops are located in Tokyo and the Asakusa district.
Tsuge Japanese pipes have an undeniably international approach; more decidedly Japanese are other Tsuge pipes with metal finishes, bamboo details, and refined lacquering.
But what all the models have in common is the consistent, meticulous, dogged pursuit of perfection.
A classic example of this philosophy is the short, curved egg-shaped Tsuge Cat's Eye pipe "607" is one of these Danish designs.
This Japanese tobacco pipe combines a soft roundness and gentle curves with a fluid dynamism in the profile and, as part of the Cat's Eye series, its robustness is nicely juxtaposed with the lateral ridge lines of the shank and the white resin insert.
These ridges create a cat's eye-shaped shank face that is surrounded by a vibrant ring of fiery acrylic that evokes the feline ... when viewed from the smoker's perspective.
Minimalist in design, with a polished briar finish they are very light and perfect in size.
Here we present the Tsuge Cat's Eye 607 Egg semi-bent with a classic shape and an elliptical shank and ring in contrast with the natural briar chimney.
The Tsuge Cat's Eye 607 pipe is an everyday pipe, balanced, light, classic shape, pleasant to hold.
With its classic egg shape and large chimney it can be used for English mixtures and is excellent for everyday use.
Each Tsuge Japanese pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece, the external finish may vary slightly from the image since each briar pipe is a unique piece.
The variations are only intended in the shades of the briar, the measurements and shape do not vary.
