    • Wonderful Japanese billiard-shaped pipe with Urushi lacquer finish.

    • There is only one example of this tobacco pipe.

    • Bats bring happiness.

The Makie Bat pipe from the Japanese Tsuge factory represents bats.

    Bats bring happiness.

This is because the word bat in Chinese sounds like the word for luck (fu ?) and the Japanese have adopted this tradition.

One of the most popular associations in China is that of five bats with the five blessings: longevity, wealth, health, virtue and a late and natural death.

Tsuge Urushi Makie pipes are masterpieces completely handmade by artists using the Japanese lacquer technique with representations of fantasy or nature.

Urushi is the most valuable Japanese lacquer in the entire East.

The peculiarity of Urushi, unlike other traditional handicraft products, is that it has a totally native, Japanese origin, without having been imported from abroad.

The lacquer is applied in layers, waiting for it to dry completely, before moving on to the next one.

In this way, a hard crust is formed that can be carved.

The hollow parts are filled with layers of lacquer of contrasting colors or other materials, especially mother-of-pearl.

Another, later technique consisted of applying layers of lacquer of different colors, then carving the surface layer (usually black) to make the different colors emerge.

Other decorative techniques are gold inlays (chinkin), engraved patterns (kinma) and hidden images (mittae).

The Tsuge Urushi Makie Bat pipe represents the flight of a bat that approaches you from afar and then goes away, brushing you, representing luck in life!

In the elegant billiard tobacco pipe produced by Tsuge with Urushi technique, the red and gold colors of the lucky bats stand out.

The design of the pipe is the classic long, slim, light and elegant shape, making this pipe unique and a work of art.

The Tsuge Urushi Makie pipe line is specifically designed for collectors and enthusiasts who want to get closer to the world of luxurious and exclusive tobacco pipes produced in Japan and to Japanese culture.

Minimalist in design, with a natural black finish that enhances the color of the Urushi lacquer.

A similar pipe was proposed by Im Corona and Dunhill The White Spot with the Quail Namiki Michifumi pipe

At Tsuge they have done an excellent job in capturing the aesthetic essence of traditional Urushi, of the Japanese soul, aimed at the contemplation of nature and the search for perfection.

The search for perfection in this pipe is sublime, everything is perfect, it is balance, essence, spirituality and concreteness.

Likewise, for the Tsuge Urushi Makie Bat pipe, they kept the combustion chamber regular and the pipe is perfectly functional.

The Japanese Tsuge Urushi Makie pipes, have an undoubted oriental, Japanese approach, elegant and essential.

Here we present the Tsuge Urushi Makie Bat pipe, with the classic shape called billiard and with the decorations of gold and red bats on a deep and shiny black background... a work of art.

The Tsuge Urushi Makie Bat pipe is not a pipe for every day, balanced, light, it was produced in only 1 piece in the world.

The Japanese Tsuge Urushi Makie Bat pipe is a unique and unrepeatable piece and the photos you see portray this exclusive pipe, the same, once purchased, will be removed from the catalog.

If you need more detailed photos, we will be happy to send them to you.
