Lidia and Romano Levi's Grappas: An Icon of Piedmontese Tradition

When talking about the famous grappas of Lidia and Romano Levi, it is essential to recognize the contribution of both siblings.

The distillery, an undivided legacy, represents a legacy of passion and dedication. Lidia, who took refuge on the first floor of the house in an almost monastic life, selected and created very rare bottles of herbal grappa, reflecting an art that few know.

Romano Levi, known for his famous grappa, brought to the forefront the handwritten labels, enriched with poetic phrases and naive drawings, which today define the “Arte Selvatic” of his bottles.

In an interview, Romano stated: "Lidia's presence was fundamental for my work; her severity guided me in creating these works of art".

The distillery, built by Serafino Levi, uses a direct-fire still, a technique that requires great expertise and skill.

Romano stressed the importance of this practice, which preserves the aromatic components and the organoleptic characteristics of the grappa.

Grappa della Donna Selvatica: A Treasure of the Langhe

Coming from the Langhe, Grappa della Donna Selvatica stands out for its refined balance, obtained through tanning in underground pits and prolonged aging.

This grappa, aged for at least 38 months in classic 700-liter Piedmont oak barrels, matures in environments with controlled humidity and constant temperatures between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius.

Romano Levi's Grappa di Barolo is the distillery's latest creation and is notoriously the richest in aromas and flavors.

Its elegance and strength make it superior to any other Barolo grappa currently in production.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Bright and brilliant, with golden tones.

Aroma: Intense floral and fruity notes, with hints of hazelnut, spices and a light smokiness.

Flavor: In the mouth it is complex, with a perfect balance between sweetness and delicate tannins. The finish is long and enveloping, with a persistent aftertaste of wood and vanilla.
