Hampden, one of the longest-running distilleries in the world, has announced the launch of Hampden 1753, a new release that takes its name from the year the Jamaican distillery was founded and joins its permanent range.
The new release of Hampden Estate bears its founding year in its name.
Complex and with a rich ester profile, Hampden 1753 is at the same time accessible and versatile thanks to the 46% ABV.
It is produced in small batches and aged for 3 years in ex-Bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Jamaica.
The result is an authentic expression of the unique style of Hampden, which offers a perfect introduction to the aromatic universe of the Jamaican distillery, fully showcasing its nuances of flavor.
Hampden 1753 is naturally produced starting from the pillars that have made the distillery legendary:
• the use of very pure water, coming from a spring that flows a few kilometers from the Estate, in the heart of Cockpit Country, used to dilute the molasses that comes from the Long Pond sugar factory;
• spontaneous fermentation, triggered by indigenous natural yeasts that work for very long periods, generating those esters responsible for the characteristic final aromatic charge;
• distillation, which lasts about 7 hours, in the 6 discontinuous double retort copper stills from all corners of the world, one of which dates back to 1960;
• tropical aging and finally the total absence of added sugars or colorants. It is a production method handed down century after century, one of the most authentic in the world rum scene;
Hampden 1753 is the perfect introduction to the unrivalled aromatic universe of the historic Jamaican distillery.
Its production methods used today are a reflection of the constant commitment to preserving its heritage, made up of centuries-old traditions that are not only preserved, but lived daily, fuelling every single official bottling, just as they did at the time of its foundation.
Considered among the best distilleries in the world, Hampden is certainly one of the most authentic, with rums that boast levels of esters so high that they can be considered real 'flavors'.
It is no coincidence that their essence is still appreciated today also in the world of perfumery.
The distillery is today the custodian of a heritage of over 6,500 barrels in its cellars, most of which were previously used for the aging of Bourbon. Among these, over 100 ex-sherry barrels stand out. Currently, the first warehouse is filled to 80% of its total capacity, while the second is at 60% and there is a third, smaller one, currently being implemented.
Here the Hampden rums of the future will mature and come to life, including from today Hampden 1753, a true compass to easily reach and touch the soul of the Trelawny distillery.
