Scapegrace distillery, founded in 2014, is known for its gin but is also making a name for itself in the world of whisky, using New Zealand Laureate barley and water from the New Zealand Alps.
The distillery is located on the 45th parallel, which allows for a wide temperature range that favors the aging of the whisky.
This new series of single malts features whisky matured in virgin Bulgarian oak casks, resulting in a huge, ethereal, elegant aromatic profile.

Distilled using New Zealand Laureate type wheat it has been produced in only 2274 bottles worldwide.
This rich bronze malt gets its silky tannins, sweet spices and fruit notes from oak (Quercus Robur) casks of Bulgarian origin.
The fine grained, firm wood is air dried for 15 months before housing the spirit of the Scapegrace distillery.
The result is a delicious, delicate, ethereal and elegant Single Malt.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark amber, coppery.
Nose: Oatmeal biscuits and tarragon butter, fragrant cedarwood, butterscotch ice cream and burnt sponge cake, lemon zest and cooked apricots.
Some also detect light floral notes, sweet ripe apples, summer hay and baking spices.
Palate: Medium-light body. Freshly baked butterscotch biscuits, whole wheat toast and apricot jam, coconut and white pepper amaretti.
Others also detect baked apples and stewed plums, vanilla sponge cake, milk chocolate, cappuccino, cherries, toast with apricot jam, milk fudge, caramel and coconut.
Finish: Medium length, with hints of butterscotch biscuits and fragrant cloves, vanilla, orchard fruit, cinnamon and oak tannins.
