GlenAllachie continues its exploration of peat with the Meikle Tòir line, distilled with heavily peated Speyside malt and carefully matured in a cask-forward style.

The Original from Meikle Tòir is a classic single malt that highlights the distillery's peaty character.

Long fermentations and targeted distillation preserve fruity esters.

This wonderful continental peat from St. Fergus has a surprisingly sweet flavor, very different from what one would expect from coastal peat.

The Original is a single malt made with continental peat from St. Fergus, a sweeter and more grassy variety than that found on the coast.

The barley was peated to 35 ppm, and then the whisky was aged in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks, American virgin oak casks, and rye casks.

“The Original” is the entry-level expression, aged 5 years, designed to express the most direct and authentic side of the distillery's smoky profile without overshadowing its fruity undertones.

During the maturation period, the whisky remained in first-fill bourbon casks, American virgin oak casks, and rye casks.

The Meikle Tòir (meaning "big chase" and pronounced mee-kuhl tor) range includes peated whisky produced at the GlenAllachie distillery under the guidance of legendary master distiller Billy Walker.

It was bottled at 50% ABV without chill filtration or additional coloring.

A beautiful, clean peat, with character but without excess, drinkable but not banal.

Tasting Note:

Color: Amber.

Aroma: The scent of smoked almonds blends with notes of toasted honey, warm spices, hazelnuts, espresso, and coffee butter.

Taste: Dark chocolate, cinnamon, heather honey, ginger, and smoked sugar are enveloped in sweet peat aromas, with the smoke consistent and oily in its botanical nature.

Finish: Long-lasting and spicy.
