    • Aged for 5 years exclusively in ex-bourbon casks, this Springbank is a single malt for purists.

    • Distilled in 2019 and bottled at full strength in 2024.

    • Only 1,900 bottles produced worldwide.

    • It's excellent with a few drops of water.

The legendary Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown has announced the launch of its latest creation: the Springbank 5 Years Old 100 Proof 2025.

The Springbank 100 Proof 5 Year Old is the successor to the 100 Proof Bourbon, an older release from the distillery for purists. It's aged in casks distilled in June 2019 and bottled in October 2024.

As the name suggests, it was matured in fino sherry casks and bottled at a reduced alcohol content of 57.1%.

A total of 1,900 bottles were produced.

This new expression, bottled at a powerful 100 proof (57.1% ABV), pays homage to the historic "100 proof" strength, once used as a measure of authenticity during the days of British shipping.

With this new release, Springbank continues to embody a perfect balance of tradition, innovation, and character, offering whisky lovers a rich and historic experience.

Despite being only five years old, Springbank 5 Years Old 100 Proof 2025 was conceived to showcase a bold and uncompromising style.

The young spirit, intensified by its high ABV, promises a vibrant blend of aromas that reflects Springbank's traditional production methods and its dedication to characterful whiskies.

Springbank 5 Years Old 100 Proof 2025 is much more than just a new release: it is a statement of heritage, strength, and authenticity.

For collectors and enthusiasts, this young yet powerful single malt captures the spirit of Campbeltown and the enduring reputation of one of Scotland's legendary distilleries.

    Tasting Notes:

    Color: Clear, bright gold.

Nose: The nose is initially quite tense, but with patience, notes of raspberry, a hint of menthol, strawberry sauce, cola cubes, and caramel begin to emerge. There's also a very light touch of peat smoke. It's all sherry, and we don't detect any of the signature Campbeltown flavor we'd expect. A one-dimensional nose, but it's a dimension most appreciate.

Taste: The palate is sherry, with cola as the dominant note, followed by roasted coffee and brown sugar. A touch of signature Campbeltown flavor lingers in the background. It has a good texture in the mouth, and upon retasting, notes of tobacco and soft leather emerge. The finish is medium-long, with a slight lingering bitterness. For us, it feels closer to 10 years of age than 5. Like the nose, the palate is rather one-dimensional.

Nose (with water): With water, the nose reveals more sweetness, with notes of raisins and dark chocolate, along with molasses and caramel. There's perhaps a very slight hint of funk, but it remains predominantly sherry. The addition of water helped open it up.

Taste (with water): With water, the palate becomes softer. There's a touch more funk, along with notes of orange zest, sweet caramel, and a raisin reduction. A hint of ginger spice appears on the still medium-length finish, and the coffee note is now more prominent. Like the nose, the palate has also opened up pleasantly.
