Barber's Gin London dry Vol.40% Cl.70

Barber's Gin London Dry is a product with a very curious history: gin in England has always been used not only for drinking, but also as a disinfectant and "occasionally as an aftershave," as the label states.

This gin takes its name from a curious story: in 1745, King George II of England issued an edict prohibiting barbers from performing surgery (previously permitted); however, they still had some gin, which they continued to keep as a disinfectant and occasionally as an aftershave, in addition to drinking.

Thus was born the tradition of Barber's Gin... the most popular gin among English barbers... who occasionally used their shaving soap cup as a drinking glass.

Barber's is a London dry gin made from a neutral grain alcohol base, distilled three times in traditional stills.

Botanicals include Croatian juniper, Moroccan coriander seeds, Spanish thyme, and angelica root.

To produce gin, it's necessary to "flavor" an alcoholic base with certain ingredients, one of which, or often the main component, is juniper.

This can be done in various ways: either by macerating the botanicals in alcohol, which is then redistilled to obtain a colorless and "cleaner" product, or by placing the botanicals in a container placed over the still, so that the alcohol, in the form of vapor, extracts their aromas and fragrances.
