Third edition of the new Sinteis series, single malts from the Glenallachie distillery aged in different casks.
'Sinteis' (pronounced sin-teesh), meaning "synthesis" in Scottish Gaelic, embodies the cask creativity of legendary master distiller Billy Walker, as the single malts are aged in two bold yet complementary types of wood to create unparalleled expressions.
The 2014 GlenAllachie Sinteis series is aged for 11 years in a combination of new French oak and Oloroso sherry casks.
Combining a single malt aged in Oloroso sherry casks with a spirit from virgin French Limousin oak casks, this 2014 vintage reveals enveloping layers of dark chocolate and roasted coffee, intertwined with nutmeg and a delicate oak warmth.
Limousin oak is a loose-grained, highly porous wood from the Limousin region of France, prized for its open grain structure, which promotes greater interaction between spirit and wood.
Oloroso sherry casks, on the other hand, are used to deliver the most intense and flavorful aromas of this single malt.
GlenAllachie is proud to present this third release, a full-strength bottle of the Sinteis series (57.4% ABV), natural color, and unchill-filtered, allowing the spirit's true character to emerge.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Dark amber verging on copper.
Aromas: The Glenallachie Sinteis 2014 single malt is an explosion of aromas. Orange zest, nutmeg, and orchard nuts, with notes of honeycomb, maraschino cherries, mocha, and crystallized cane sugar.
Taste: Heather honey, spiced orange, and baked apple, followed by winter truffle, muscovado sugar, and cinnamon, with a finish of hazelnuts and mocha.
Given its high ABV of 57.4, we recommend diluting it with a few drops of water to amplify the aromas.
This third edition of the Glenallachie Sinteis series will win you over, don't miss out, there are very few bottles available.
