The Nikka Date Miyagikyo blended whisky was produced in 2015 to commemorate the anniversary of Date Masamune's death for 2016.
Date Masamune was a Japanese daimyo who lived between the Azuchi-Momoyama period and the early Edo period. He was the heir to a long line of powerful daimyo in the Tohoku region and founded the present-day city of Sendai, in whose province the Miyagikyo Nikka distillery was later established.
The Nikka Date blend is named after this legendary warrior.
Nikka Sendai Miyagikyo Date is made with malt and grain whiskies from the Miyagikyo distillery, founded in 1969 near Sendai on Japan's main island, Honshu.
This Nikka blend offers exceptional value.
This highly balanced blend is composed of select Miyagikyo malt and grain whiskies, malted on site and then distilled using the Coffey still.
This blended Japanese whisky is aged in Mizunara oak casks and briefly refined in ex-sherry casks. Its age is unknown; it is a No Age whisky.
Nikka Date Miyagikyo blended whiskies are bottled exclusively for the Japanese distillery's shop and have long been discontinued.
This is a rare bottle, perfect as a gift for enthusiasts and collectors of Japanese whisky.
