List of products by brand The Antiquary Scotch whisky
In 1888, using only the best and rarest malts, they managed to create what was considered superior to all other blends, hence The Antiquary Scotch Whiskey was born
John & William Hardie began their quest to create the perfect Blended Scotch whiskey more than 150 years ago.
Named after Sir Walter Scott's 1816 Gothic novel, The Antiquary is a Victorian blend with Edinburgh roots that now falls under Japanese ownership.
The first bottles contained a caricature of one of Scott's main characters (probably the antiquarian himself, Jonathan Oldbuck) on the label.
Today The Antiquary is sold as a non-age statement, 12 year and 21 year, as well as a 35 year limited edition.
An exclusive blended whisky, The Antiquary 12 Years Old primarily combines soft Speyside single malts (Cragganmore) with hard Highland malts (Tomatin).
A high percentage of Highland and Speyside malts (45%) provides typical notes of citrus and vanilla, while a hint of Islay malt accounts for its light smokiness.
The unique diamond bottle shape, which is now synonymous with the brand, was introduced in the mid-20th century and has been maintained through subsequent ownership changes.
We recommend you taste two samples of goodness: the Antiquary 12 year Scotch whisky, the best quality/price ratio Scotch whiskey and the Te Antiquary 21 year aged Scotch whisky, superb!
