List of products by brand Springbank Distillery

Springbank is a mythical "cult" distillery, praised and idolized by all Scotch whiskey enthusiasts but the only distillery capable of maintaining the high quality of its spirit over the years and always surprising with its aged single malts 10 years or the limited editions of Springbank aged in PX or ex sherry casks or the famous Springbank local Barley editions.

Since 1828 the Springbank Distillery, based in the city considered the "whiskey capital" Campbeltown, has produced unique spirits prepared with methods that are still artisanal.

Springbank Distillery: A Campbeltown Peninsula Excellence

In the heart of the Campbeltown Peninsula, once home to 30 distilleries, today only the historic Springbank remains, the only distillery to maintain consistent quality over the years. Founded in 1828 by the Mitchell family, Springbank stands out as the oldest independent family-run distillery in Scotland.

A Traditional and Artisanal Production Process

The distillery is located in the centre of Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula, and is characterised by a completely artisanal approach to the production of its whiskies. All stages of the production process, from malting the barley to ageing and bottling, take place on site, ensuring total control over quality.

Using only Scottish barley, malting is done by hand on traditional malting floors. The process involves drying in manual kilns at different peat levels, thus contributing to the development of a unique flavour profile. Fermentation, which lasts up to 110 hours, allows for a low alcohol content but a high ester content, giving the spirit complex, fruity notes.

Distillation takes place in three copper stills, the first of which is heated by direct flame, a traditional method that embodies the artisanal essence of Springbank.

The Influence of Terroir on Taste

The distillery's cellars, divided into dunnage and racked, house barrels of various types, from classic ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks to innovative woods such as Rundlets and Kilderkins (small casks of 50 and 60 litres) and casks of Sauternes, Rum and Barolo.

The coastal climate of Campbeltown adds a unique dimension to the whiskies produced, giving them distinctive marine and mineral notes that make them unmistakable.

Springbank Whisky Range

Springbank produces three main varieties of whisky:

  • Springbank: A unique, lightly peated whisky, distilled two and a half times. This is one of the most sought-after single malts, especially in the Asian market.
  • Longrow: A heavily peated, twice-distilled whisky. Despite its limited production, Longrow’s special editions will captivate any enthusiast with their intricate finishes.
  • Hazelburn: A peat-free, triple-distilled single malt, this 10-year-old Hazelburn is a surprising discovery that will captivate you from the first sip.

Pricing and Collectibles

Springbank single malts can be expensive, especially the limited editions and 25-year-old whiskies, which are considered true safe havens and collectors’ bottles. Enthusiasts can be confident that these exclusive bottles will not diminish in value over time, as long as they resist the temptation to open and enjoy them.
